Sorry for the short diary. Some of you may know that my Jewish mother-in-law lives in Florida. On her last visit earlier this year, she told me that there was no way Obama was going to win Florida. She lives in Tea Party Central--Allen West is her congressman--and she said a lot of people love West. Mind you, she is a youngish, fit 'senior citizen', active in AARP.
So today, this is the gist of our conversation:
Me: So, have you seen Romney yet?
Nana NF2k: No. He's been here a couple of times, but no, I don't really want to see him.
Follow me after the orange Kos sign.
So I tried to keep the conversation light. Nana sees herself as an independent: she voted for Reagan twice and both Bushes, but she 'held her nose' and voted for Clinton in '96. Since she has lived in South Florida, she usually makes an effort to see the candidates. She went to see Obama in 2008 primaries, even though she didn't think he would win and voted for him in the general.
So this is us today.
Me: So, have you seen Ryan? He's been down there, too.
Nana NF2k: Ryan! Why would I want to see him? If he gets elected, he'll be another Cheney! Did you hear me? Another Cheney!
I honestly never saw it that way. So that is how at least some in South Florida see Mittens.
Anecdotal evidence that the polls aren't all that off.
As Samuel L. Jackson says, "Wake the F*ck up!".
